	The oldest university in central Europe, Charles University was founded on 7 April 1348 by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia. The Charles University Environment Center, CUEC was founded in 1992 as part of Charles University. The activities of the centre include conducting environmental research; providing environmental expertise and information for students, the staff of the University and for the general public. CUEC collaborates with the parliamentary bodies, state administration, non-governmental organizations and many academic and research institutions in the country and abroad. The Center is in close contact with the work of international bodies, particularly the OECD and EEA.
